Maternal and Child Health Center
Supporting Healthy Pregnancies, Thriving Children, and Stronger Families
The Maternal and Child Health Center at the Hispanic Health Council advances maternal and child health through culturally responsive, family-centered, and community-based care.
Serving families throughout Greater Hartford, the Center provides home visiting, lactation support, parenting education, and connections to essential resources from pregnancy through early childhood.
Care Rooted in Culture, Trust, and Connection
Healthy pregnancies and strong families depend on more than medical care alone. Families also need trusted relationships, accessible education, practical resources, and supportive communities.
Our approach combines culturally and linguistically responsive care with individualized guidance, family engagement, and community partnerships. We work alongside parents and caregivers to reduce barriers to care, strengthen family well-being, and support healthy child development.

Community Doula Training Program
Empowering Communities Through Culturally Responsive Birth Support
The Community Doula Training Program equips Spanish-speaking community members with knowledge and skills to support birthing individuals and their families throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery, and the postpartum period.
Training emphasizes emotional, physical, and informational support, cultural responsiveness, and advocacy.
By developing community-based birth support capacity, this initiative seeks to promote positive birth experiences, strengthen family empowerment, and advance more equitable maternal health outcomes.
